JAZZ FEST WITH EARL PALMER

This week, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival is in full swing. We’ll have music of Festival artists from South Louisiana and beyond, and talk with the drummer who put the backbeat into rock & roll, Earl Palmer. Also, as a tribute to Duke Ellington on the occasion of the centennial of his birth, we’ll hear his “New Orleans Suite.”

R.L. BURNSIDE

Blues great R. L. Burnside talks about his life in Mississippi and his latest project with Beck’s producer. Also, music by Ruth Brown, Bob Wills, Lucinda Williams and Ornette Coleman.

ROADSIDE ATTRACTIONS

Travel to roadside attractions along America’s musical highways, visit the annual Wally Byam Airstream Convention in Boise Idaho, and chat with nouveau rockabillies Southern Culture on the Skids. Plus music from Charles Mingus, Flaco Jimenez, The Breeders, and The Dixie Hummingbirds.

JOHN FOGERTY

John Fogerty wasn’t born on the bayou, but his music is certainly at home there. A lively L.A. visit with the former Creedence Clearwater Revival guitarist/singer/songwriter. With music by Elmore James, Serge Gainsbourg, Chelo Silva, and Marty Robbins.
