May 9th, 2001 • INTERVIEW:From The Show: Mother's DayMusical mom Kristin Hersh founded the band Throwing Muses in mid-1990s. She's a solo artist never far from home, touring with her husband-manager, three children, and two dogs. Hersh talks about life on the road as a mother, how songs are like children, and how the songs her Southern Baptist hippie parents sang to her inspired her album "Murder, Misery, and Goodnight: Old time folk songs and ballads." She also offers up a live performance of the old song "Cuckoo."
