FROM THE SHOW: SAINTS & SPIRITS

Voodoo priestess Marie Laveau was an independent, 19th century woman of African, Native American and French descent in New Orleans. She combined elements of Catholicism, Vodoo and civil disobedience to find solutions and advise believers on problems spiritual and otherwise. Author and anthropologist, Martha Ward, takes us on a tour of historic St. Louis #1 Cemetery, resting place of Mme. Laveau and discusses her place in the city's history.
