Producer, director and cinematographer Les Blank is one of America's foremost independent filmmakers. Best known for his piece on German filmmaker Werner Herzog (Burden of Dreams), for some 40 years Blank has documented musical scenes including Texas blues (The Blues Accordin' to Lightnin' Hopkins), the zydeco of Clifton Chenier (Hot Pepper) and polka (In Heaven There is No Beer?) as well as other subjects dear to his heart (Gap Toothed Women).
