At age 20 she signed with the Minit label, in 1962 cutting "It's Raining," followed soon after with "Ruler of My Heart." Thomas continued to record through the '70s to lesser success and took several years hiatus before making the first of a succession of soul and gospel recordings for the Rounder label bringing her back into the spotlight with great acclaim.
